I think that the Iranians are getting more conceited and they have begun firing missiles once again at commercial ships using the Straits of Hormuz near to Oman side. The Iranian leaderships are very confident (or over-confident?) that neither a nuclear bomb nor US ground troops will be deployed against them hence it is time to play tough ball against the US and assert their claim over control of all shipping in the Straits of Hormuz. I hope that the they are right and don't make a fatal mistake here thinking that they had Donald Trump and the US cornered and at their mercy.
Of course, Donald Trump had made a strategic blunder by assassinating the senior leaders of Iran and then waiting for an eventual coup among its citizens to topple the entire Iranian government. The war started by Donald Trump achieved virtually nothing for the US and burnt USD 29 billion in direct cost (if we add in the indirect US consumer cost from higher energy cost due to doubling oil prices, the loss will be over USD 100 billion. Even worse, the Straits of Hormuz is now being used by Iran to hold the entire world hostage and for ransom. Donald Trump really ought to be shot for tearing apart the previous nuclear accord brokered by Obama.
I think it is inevitable that the US may have to use more extreme measures against Iran in order to get them to wake up their misconceived notion that they have the upper hand and can dictate the terms of a peace settlement. The brutal truth is that the Iranians are ultimately playing with fire albeit the senseless war started by Donald Trump.
In the meantime, the entire world will have to continue on the roller-coaster ride- the US-Iran war is definitely not ending anytime soon.
